Tina Simpson, MD, MPH, Vice Chair, Section Chief of Adolescent Medicine & Chief Clinical Diversity Officer, Tulane University
Dr. Tina Simpson is a highly accomplished Professor of Pediatrics with specialized training in Adolescent Medicine and advanced education in health behavior. In October 2022, Dr. Simpson joined the faculty at Tulane University School of Medicine, where she serves as the Section Chief of Adolescent Medicine and Chief Clinical Diversity Officer. Prior to her role at Tulane, she held the position of Vice-Chair of Faculty Development in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and directed the adolescent medicine training programs.
With extensive clinical and research experience, Dr. Simpson has dedicated much of her career to supporting individuals affected by HIV, including adolescents, young adults, and perinatally exposed infants. She previously served as the director of the UAB Ryan White Part D and Part B Programs, contributing significantly to the care and support of those living with HIV. At Tulane, Dr. Simpson’s clinical practice includes providing specialized care to young people living with HIV through Tulane Total Health. Additionally, she co-directs the Tulane site for the Adolescent Trials Network for HIV Interventions (ATN), further advancing research and intervention strategies in this critical area.
Dr. Simpson’s work is characterized by her commitment to improving health outcomes for marginalized populations and fostering diversity and inclusion in clinical practice and beyond. Through her leadership roles and clinical expertise, she continues to make a profound impact on adolescent health and the fight against HIV.
