National Coalition of 100 Black Women – Metro Atlanta Chapter Health Fair

The Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. advocates for black women and girls, promoting equity and leadership in the areas of health, education, public policy, and economic empowerment. To extend our health advocacy to the community, the Health Committee hosts an annual health fair, located in high-traffic public areas such as malls and community centers, reaching the most vulnerable populations in Atlanta. The fair provides free services like health screenings and resources while educating the public on health and wellness.

The 2024 Annual Health Fair Key Elements :

Community Engagement and Collaboration:

Encourage a sense of community by fostering collaboration among individuals, local organizations, and healthcare providers.

Highlight the importance of collective efforts in promoting health equity and well-being.

Self-Advocacy Skills Development:

Offer interactive workshops and discussions on effective communication with healthcare providers, navigating the healthcare system, and advocating for personal health needs.

Empower attendees to be proactive in seeking the information and support they need for their health.

Comprehensive Health Screenings and Resources:

Provide free and comprehensive health screenings to detect and address potential health issues.

Showcase community vendor resources, including local healthcare organizations, support groups, and wellness programs.

Incentives for Participation:

Continue offering incentives like gift cards, prize drawings, and other giveaways to encourage attendance and active participation.

Reinforce the idea that investing time in one’s health can lead to valuable rewards and long-term benefits.

Education on Health and Wellness:

Conduct informative sessions on health and wellness topics relevant to the community, addressing prevalent health issues.
